  2. Leo Harju / June 7, 2013

Wow, I thought I was clever with my Psycho Neck Training vids, but that
sled pulling with one’s neck is too much. I wonder why they are doing it.

    Love the neck exercise!!!

The westside method is only for intermediate to advanced lifters. Meaning
the trainee has a training age of 5+ years. Novice bench cycles won’t cut
it like 5/3/1 for these guys. A good introduction to to those principles is
    the cube method

  11. Emmit Chadwick / September 29, 2013

Been powerlifting since the mid 70’s and this is some of the craziest
training I have ever seen. Benching off the floor, chains,
    beachballs…WTF ha, ha. Whatever works I guess.´╗┐

    • Brad Davis / June 23, 2014

Been powerlifting since the 70’s?? Where? At Planet Fitness. This stuff
is all pretty common place among powerlifting. Also, floor pressing and
chains have been around a long time…

    • BrewCityRider / June 28, 2014

Brad, I am in Wisconsin and trained at many of the “hard core” gyms in the
area back in the day. I can assure you that none of these techniques were
used in my area back then. Planet Fitness? C’mon man, that was a low blow.

      +BrewCityRider Yeah, what’s your total?

    • BrewCityRider / May 21, 2016

  14. cage antle / December 8, 2013

I thought you werent supposed to have any sort of hip drive on floor press´╗┐

    • Gains And Glory / August 11, 2015

you’re ideally supposed to pause it too, but I think they know what they’re
doing. Also, geared and raw lifters train differently.

  15. Daniel Lee / March 4, 2014

This is killing me. What’s that exercise at 2:58 that the farther guy is
    doing, called? ´╗┐

    • Moey Thomas / September 27, 2014

+Karm A In this video, it is Dave Hoff performing the exercise. It would
seem that if one of the best powerlifters in the world deems it a worthy
use of his gym time, it must have some benefits. Also, if you deem
totalling elite weak, then you clearly have a very high standard regarding
strength, a standard of which you will no doubt yourself live up to.

    • Moey Thomas / September 28, 2014

Really? I always thought there was a hell of a lot more that went into it
than that. What a fool I’ve been. Thanks for the clarification mate, I’ll
look out for when you total… 1400

    • Nick Hubert / May 10, 2016
